WHEN SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR AFTER A CONCUSSION

Ideally everyone who suffers a concussion should be assessed by a doctor who is experienced in its management. It is recommended that if there is a doubt over the diagnosis, if symptoms are lasting more than 2 weeks, if there has been 2 or more concussions in 12 months or returning to high risk sport, then there should be a medical review with a concussion expert (ConcussionNI)

DO YOU SEE POST CONCUSSIONAL SYNDROME?

Yes i will see anyone post concussion at any point from just after the impact right through to weeks later if the symptoms have not settled and further treatment is needed

CAN I PRIVATELY PAY

Yes, if you don't have health insurance or your plan does not cover it you can pay privately. Initial consultation is £175, follow up consultation is £125.

WHAT AGE GROUPS DO YOU SEE

I will review anyone from their 13th birthday onwards

DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO BOOK A CONSULTATION?

Not if privately paying. You can contact Drumkeen Private Healthcare on 02895 622212 to book an appointment. Or contact info@ulsterconcussionclinic.com for more information
A GP can refer you if you have seen them first or if this is required by your insurer.

I OR MY CHILD HAS JUST HAD A CONCUSSION. WHAT SHOULD I DO UNTIL APPOINTMENT

I would advise complete rest for 2 days post concussion. I would then look to re integrate into school/university/work so that this doesn't provoke symptoms. After or at the same time, i would start some very light exercise that again doesn't bring on any symptoms
